Who Am I, and What Am I Doing Here? - Kamille
This question automatically made me think of "This is Me," a song by Keala Settle from the movie "The Greatest Showman." The lyrics stick out to me because she sings, "I am brave, I am bruised I am who I'm meant to be, this is me." This definitely describes the person I am today after going through life and having many interesting experiences. A lot of who I am comes from my trait of adaptability that I have acquired. I was born in Illinois, but since then I have moved over 5 times. From Illinois was Michigan, then Northern California, Southern California, Georgia, back to Southern California, and now Boston. This was all due to my dad's profession. Growing up, I never had a steady group of friends because every time I got comfortable, I learned we were moving again. Nevertheless, I was in Southern California the longest, so that is where I declare "home." I was often involved in sports such as soccer and I even participated in a few school plays and theatre productions. Once I got to high school, I became a cheerleader for our football and basketball team. This is where I met some of my closest friends to this day. Another huge part of my life was leadership. I was a member of my school's ASB (Associated Student Body) organization for 4 years. My senior year I served on the California Association of Student Leaders (CASL) state board as a Southern Regional Director. This was a huge part of my high school experience. All of the above events have shaped me into the person I am today. For the reasons mentioned prior, I am now a more outgoing, energetic, and sympathetic person.
The question of "what am I doing here" is a bit more complex to answer, because, does anyone really know? I sure don't. However, I have goals, dreams, and aspirations and those are what gets me through day-to-day life on campus. I have always loved the idea of coming to the east coast for school and even dreamt of studying in New York. However, after realizing that NYC was too much of a city, I thought Boston was a better fit for me. I actually ended up applying to Northeastern on a whim after one of my friends got accepted Early Decision. Once she told me all the great things about the school, I looked into the university and applied. The only other school I applied to in Boston was BC. Now, being a second semester first-year student here, I have decided that despite my previous ambition to go to medical school, I now want to become a Physician Assistant. This profession captured my attention due to the fact that you can be a PA in multiple specialities at the same time. I also enjoy their flexible schedule more than doctors and schooling is significantly cut in half compared to a physician. My goal is to complete 5 years here as an undergraduate pre-PA student.

I agree with your statement that the question of "what am I doing here" is a bit more complex. I often think about whether there really is an answer, because for me it is so difficult to find that reason. I know that I am here to learn and study, but there must be more to it. I think creating goals is very important and is a big part of the process of figuring out why we are here.
