Allie Fenlon Blogpost 7

Even though I am completely and utterly heartbroken that I will not be attending classes during the week of spring break… I am still so excited for spring break, and here’s why.
I have not seen my grandparents since before leaving for Ireland. They live in Florida during the winter, while I live in New Jersey. I did not have time to visit them during the essentially week-long winter break. Over spring break I will be visiting my grandparents in beautiful Boca Raton, Florida, the land of the Jewish grandparents. You see, my grandparents are not your average Brooklyn-Yiddish grandparents. They are much more interesting than that. My grandma is the most perfectly over-the-top retired actress ever. Paired with my artist grandfather, who no one in my family (except maybe my grandma), has seen without a mustache. They are one of the most interesting couples ever. In addition to their bright personalities, they have the most perfect Brooklyn accents ever, let me add that their names are Phyllis and Arthur, imagine them saying each other's names with those accents… priceless. In sunny Florida, I am expected to be mothered twice, with respect to my sunscreen usage, and probably smothered in sunscreen within fifteen minutes of each other because let's face it, I am pale. I am also extremely enthused to come home, burnt to a crisp, and receive the sunburn talk, yet again, twice within fifteen minutes of each other, while my grandfather silently giggles to himself because I did this to myself fully knowing the consequences. Needless to say, I am excited.

After the Florida visit, I am also going home to New Jersey to my parents, my cats, and my brother. I have been home for a total of maybe ten days in the past six months, so I’d say that it is pretty exciting. I am anticipating eating so much food and staying in my bed all day with my favorite cat, Casper, and maybe the other one too if he’s lucky. I am possibly the most excited about this part… recently I have been watching videos about Maine Coone cats because I need my daily dose of cat. I am also going to the city with my dad because apparently “I am the chosen one,” but no complaints here. This will be a day of good food and possibly shopping… who would not be excited? Over the break, I will probably have a beauty day with my mom. I am talking about the whole shebang, nails and toes, well just that… but we love beauty days. Then, my brother will possibly take me to his best friend, Keith’s, college. This is due to the sole reason that his housemate got an adorable new puppy and I need to see it. Then, we will go home, and I will retreat to my cave, I mean my room. After four days at home, I will be sent back to reality, I mean Boston, and carry on with my normal activities.
