post either 6 or seven???? - Julia Zaucha
One of the class intro discussions was: who fascinates you. I said my best friend and there are a billion reasons why. I was fortunate to get to see her this weekend as she flew all the way from Chicago. Luckily she was able to get away for a weekend and tour a little bit of Boston (on the coldest weekend though). It was great though; we got to do so many things like go out to different restaurants and just be able to enjoy the city without having to worry about school or work.
If anyone reads this and wants to hear about a few good places: Buttermilk and Bourbon (on Commonwealth Ave), Trattoria II (in the North End), Mikes Pastries (also in the North End), Tatt Bakery (all over town), Fanieul Hall, and the classic Regina's Pizzeria. We also did some fun things like go shopping in the Pru, tour colleges (for her), and go to Shear Madness (a show I would highly recommend to anyone as it was really good!). It makes me so happy that I have made a friend (who will hopefully be one of my closest friends forever) that would pay an expensive flight to see me for a weekend. It really shows that they care about me and honestly I haven't been this happy in a while.
On a different note, I went to the EMK again but it was just to get checked in with the IDs. We really only interacted with the teachers and supervisors and I have never in my life seen such a hopefull group of people for their students. I always see them trying to help out and support their students in any way possible. They are also really nice with us volunteers and even asked if we wanted any tea or coffee (which I think is really nice because it just is such a kind gesture). It really creates a welcoming environment that makes teaching and learning more comfortable.
On another different note: the Sponsor of Literacy paper. I am honestly having a hard time with it because writing is a part of it which is a part I don't seem to fully master. When I write, everything makes sense to me. I can spice it up in ways that in my head sound right but to others may just not sound right. It is really a struggle because I really do try and correct it but there is always some part that needs to be changed, (and I don't mean to make it perfect as nothing ever is). But I overall like the concept of this paper because it is eye-opening to show how I think I became more advanced in some form of literacy which is a nice reflection for growth.
