Blog Post #9

I can confidently say 2020 will definitely not go down in history as being the best year for anyone. Just after we moved online, got kicked off campus, and quarantined in our own homes, Tom Brady decides on St. Patricks day to announce he won't be coming back to the patriots. Soya, you could say I'm not having a fun time during this COVID-19 pandemic. I think the hardest part about being stuck in quarantine is trying to find something to do with my time. Now that school has officially started again I can focus on trying to get work done, however doing online school is most definitely not my favorite mode of learning. The one time I tried to join my chemistry class online, the program kept on stalling and 20 minutes into the session the sound stopped working. I also couldn't see the entire board, the images were not clear, and it is super difficult to ask questions for clarification because there are over 100 students in the class trying to learn at the same time. I also think online school keeps students pretty unmotivated to get a lot of their work done because we have so much time. I know for me at least, I feel unmotivated to start work because I know I have so much free time to do it. Eventually, it will be the day something is due and I will be screwed, so I'm trying my best to avoid that. I also think it is incredibly hard to learn online. It is going to be harder to understand concepts and ask questions, which will be detrimental to our learning. Especially for students that are health science majors not understanding concepts now will make learning in the future difficult. A lot of the classes I will be taking in the future build off the curriculum I learned in my first year.

But, doing school 24/7 will make me go crazy so I am trying to find other things to do with my time as well. While being stuck at home I get to see my family, sleep in my own bed, and get homecooked meals every night. I can watch movies, relax, walk my dog, and facetime my friends when I want to, which is nice. I have also been trying to find different ways to stay active. I have a lonely and pretty rusty treadmill in my basement that I've been trying to use to work out, but it is getting really boring running for 30 minutes and staring off into space. So I have been searching youtube video workouts, trying to run outside (even though it is absolutely freezing), and I downloaded this app that does workouts for the treadmill. I am really missing the option of going to a gym or a work out class when I wanted to while I was at Northeastern. So if anyone has any suggestions for me with fun things to do during this quarantine, let me know!!

I am really curious about how this pandemic is going to play out. I have heard many many many different opinions on the virus. Some people think that there isn't a lot to worry about, while other people are acting like the world might end. And honestly, I don't know where I stand on the virus myself. This post was kind of random but I hope everyone is staying safe and washing their hands!
