Sabrina's Prompt Ideas (Step 1)
Bert Kreisher: Hey Big Boy - He is one of my favorite comedians and he just came out with a new Netflix Comedy Special so I will probably review that one. I will be watching this with my friends so I can get their opinions as well. I realize that that isn't really part of the assignment but I was hoping that I could use their opinions and either merge it with mine or argue against it.
47 Meters Down - A terrible movie with a terrible ending. There aren't very many movies that I really don't like and will never watch again but this is one of them. I would love to have the opportunity to talk about all the different ways why this movie should have not been created and definitely why it should never have a second movie
305 fitness videos - I am not too familiar with this because I just started it but I can easily become familiar enough with this to write about it by the time it is due. I just thought that this fitness video had a really interesting concept and it was a lot of fun.
The Sharknado series - This movie is literally known for being so bad that it is good. It became so popular that it even turned up in other movies that are also known for being so bad that it is good (i.e. Lavalantula). It would be fun to review why this movie series is loved by so many

Reviewing 305 fitness videos would be a super cool and new spin on reviews. I don't know anything about these videos, but if the video has a lot of context that you feel knowledgable on that you could discuss, I think that would be very interesting to read.
ReplyDeleteI so so hope that you review Sharknado. It has one of the worst and most terrible digital effects in the world and you have so many things to discuss. Like you could discuss the terrible digital-ness or how someone even got the thought of this. It is so masterful in lack of seriousness yet is still executed as a serious movie. You have a lot to work with here.
ReplyDeleteReviewing the fitness videos would be so cool because I need to start working out and I can see if that's a good option for me! Sharknado could be cool because I feel as though its a movie that many joke about because of the outlandish plot. It also seems as though you have strong feelings about 47 Meters Down so that seems like a good route as well!

I remembered watching Sharknado for my friend because it was her favorite movie... and all I could think about was how I would never get that hour of my life back. But I think when you talk about things you don't like you do it in a very humorous way and I think you also put fun spin on and enlighten me on why you liked how bad the movie was. So I kind of hope you pick Sharknado. I also think on this same note you would write a great review for 47 meters down. I think one of these two topics is your calling. I want a copy on my desk next Friday. But honestly I think you would write any of these really well and I would genuinely be excited to read your take.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of reviewing the Bert Kreisher special. I'd encourage you to look up some reviews of comedy and comedians elsewhere, just to see the kinds of things that often get mentioned or included in a review. And I also really like the idea of "staging a conversation" among you and your friends about the special. The good thing in that case is that it will force you to think about why something is or isn't funny.
ReplyDeleteI think a Sharknado review *could* be funny, but then it's really a question of what, exactly, do you want to say? How does one criticize a movie that's trying to be bad "on purpose"? Some people really like bad movies — watching them and talking about them — others don't really see the point. I'm kind of in the latter camp. If you're in the former, I'd be interested to hear!
