#5 Blog Post - Kamille

Tutoring for the first time at EMK last Wednesday was more of a challenge than I initially thought it would be. I've always been someone who enjoys getting tutored by other people but never the other way around. I guess I don't enjoy the idea of tutoring someone because I have never felt confident enough in myself to teach another person a subject that I wasn't strong in. It wasn't until high school that I realized the importance of having a tutor. Prior to that, I "got away" with school through engaging with my teachers, talking to others, and honestly Google. But, elementary school and middle school compared to high school was definitely easier. The pace of work didn't really pick up (in my opinion) until my freshman year. Integrated Math 1 was the class that changed everything for me. Writing these blog posts have made me realize I could never run a blog. I can never think about what to write about. As much as I want to mix things up and write about something that has nothing to do with quarantine or corona, that fact that I have been trapped in my house with nothing to do doesn't give me much else to talk about. I guess I can use this to vent about how much I dislike learning about plants. On Thursday I have a biology exam about plants and animals. Studying about plants, their structures, and how they reproduce, is one of the most boring things I have ever had to learn. Memorizing everything about gymnosperms and angiosperms is not my cup of tea to say the least. The fact that we have to be tested on it I find quite ridicules. I mean I get it, we are in school, paying thousands of dollars to learn, and I chose this major. I am from a small town in Massachusetts known as Marblehead. It is the type of town where everyone knows everyone and you are always guaranteed to run into someone you know if you are walking or going to our local community store. It is located right on the water which makes it super fun for the summer when we can go swimming, not so much right now. Anyways, there is a small island off the mainland that is connected by a causeway- an area of Marblehead known as "The Neck". On one side of the causeway is the Marblehead harbor and on the other side of the causeway is the open ocean. People in town absolutely LOVE to go for walks along the causeway with their friends, family, or dogs. I personally love to run on the causeway because you get an amazing view of the water and the beach, and someone I know driving across the causeway will always honk at me to keep me motivated.
