Blog post #10-Samantha Rhynard

Things that have happened since last week: I have kind of gotten used to working from home, and I have attended all the classes I was supposed to, took a few quizzes, and overall put off doing stuff as much as possible. Things that probably should have happened this past week: more studying for my Biology exam and going in-depth on some Chemistry stuff, because I don't entirely understand the chapter. I think as a consequence of being home (and in a different time zone), I have lost some of the grip on what day it is, and this week kind of crept up on me. It was the 12th or 13th of March, the eventful move-out happened, during which I wasn't thinking about the date, and then the rest of the week when I was home all kind of slurred together. And now there's about a week left of March. AH! But having realized that the end of the month is approaching, I have been actually worried about getting things done, and have been accomplishing some of the assignments that are due eventually (but eventually is creeping up fast).
It has been weird to be home when I am still doing schoolwork, because I have never been particularly productive in my house. So I have a tendency to take breaks, and accidentally take 2 hours off instead of 20 mins, because my brain forgets that I have to be productive. It has been weird being back in California too, because everyone complains about it being cold when it gets to 50ยบ, and I'm here thinking its a nice warm day. It has also been raining a bit, which is a nice change, and especially if I'm not going outside, it's fun to look at and listen to as I work.
At this point, all of California is in Shelter-in-place mode (which basically means stay home and only go out when you need to). The funny thing about this is that because it is still recommended that people go outside to get exercise, there are more people out and about in the neighborhood than there normally is. Except when it is raining, like today.
My cat has turned very interesting, and aside from her usual business of meowing at the top of her voice as often as she deems necessary—which is fairly regularly—she has also decided that I am the best person in the house to annoy. Now, annoying me encompasses a variety of activities, from meowing at me from the doorway to my room, and then leaving when I actually acknowledge that she is there (and then resuming the position after I re-settled), to demanding to be pet and subsequently walking across my keyboard in the middle of a live lecture. Just today I was attempting to complete a lab report, and she came in screaming to be pet. Since my parents were taking a lunch break, I decided to see if one of them would suffice in petting her, but apparently their pets weren't good enough, and she came back a few minutes later. I can't decide if I should view that as a compliment to my petting abilities, or as an indication that she'll never leave me alone.
So all in all, I think things are going okay.
