Step 1 Prompts - Kamille Martin

1) Playa Bowls - A smoothie bowl chain. Ever since I've gotten to campus, I've been obsessed with this place. It is fresh and delicious. However, the high price that accompanies a single bowl is alarming. Sometimes I wonder if I broke down each ingredient and reviewed the cost it took to create the bowl, would it be worth it? Or would simply making a replica smoothie at home be a better option? This is prevalent to review because many college students also attend this shop and may want to know the real price behind the production of the smoothie bowls.

2) "TikTok" - The social media app that has become a hit. It is very cool to see how applications on your iPhone develop over time and TikTok in particular has grown tremendously since it was first launched. At first sight, I saw the app as bland and for children. Now, however, it has over 1 billion users of all ages and contains a variety of content from dancing to cooking to workouts. This would be eye-opening to review, because the app now has so many dimensions to it that it never had before and aspects that are worth commenting on.

3) "Love is Blind" - Netflix's new trendy reality television series. I feel as though this would be a great show to review because the idea behind it was what intrigued viewers (that love can be found without ever seeing the other person face-to-face). There could definitely be faults with this type of show, but also strengths. It'd be interesting to dive deeper into the way Netflix specifically chose to portray the individuals, their role on the show, and their individual journeys.

    I really like the idea of reviewing TikTok. When coming up with ideas on what to review, an app never came to mind, so that is really creative! The only thing is that it may get slightly repetitive, as I'm not sure it would cover the 750-1000 word range, but I think you could make it work! I think a lot of people do not really get the idea of what TikTok is, so I think you could explain what it really is and then get into the reviewing part of it. -Mikayla

    Your idea for reviewing Love is Blind is such a good idea. This coronavirus update has given us a lot of time which has left me with a lot of time for watching Netflix. I watched the entire series and even though the show was kind of wild, I couldn't stop watching! I think you can maybe touch on whether or not you believe that the show is realistic for contestants, and touch upon who is married still and who is not.

    I also might have a slight addiction to Playa Bowls, (haven't gotten any in a while so I'm struggling at the moment) I think a review on that would be pretty cool, especially compared to a homemade smoothie bowl considering the ingredients are relatively simple.

    Kamille, I'd be interested most I think in either TikTok or "Love is Blind." I think reviewing the Playa Bowls chain — at this juncture — would be tricky. The great thing about the other two is that you'll have access to them if you need it in order to describe something. Not so much for the restaurant....

Victoria's Prompt Ideas

One of my favorite shows is Grey’s Anatomy.  It has been on air for so long, and so much has changed over the course of its time on TV.  I can start watching anywhere in the series and still be sucked in to tapping “next episode” over and over. Instead of writing about the show itself, it could be interesting to review the show’s evolution from the beginning to what it is like now. The NUin program- this could be an interesting thing to review because it is full of expectations and it is very much an opinion (because so many people had so many different experiences, and view them differently).  I also think there is a lot of room to talk about background information and to talk about my own views on whether I’d recommend the program and describe how I felt during my experiences in the program.  One of my favorite pairs of shoes I own is my Birkenstocks. Step 1 of Review Prompt: Samantha Rhynard

Three choices for things I would be interested in reviewing are as follows; the book The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t With Her Mind , the movie Marriage Story , as well as the movie The Shawshank Redemption . I have chosen two movies and a book as the media I would find preferable for review options, because they are very good stay inside activities. I would like to review The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t With Her Mind, because it is the book I am currently reading, so I will be able it a fair analysis, having been recently actively involved with it. Marriage Story and The Shawshank Redemption  are movies I would consider reviewing, because I have been told that they're good, but I haven't gotten around to seeing for myself.
