Waking up and going on Twitter is the worst. Every time I think this viral outbreak has gotten better, it has only gotten worse. I'm trying so hard to stay positive but our state just announced another lockdown for 30 more days. Not to mention, turning on the news is very discouraging. All they discuss is how to flatten the curve and then give live updates on the amount of cases there are. I hate when they mention the amount of people that have died or the healthcare workers that are catching corona. This is important information to disclose, I know, but it is extremely saddening to hear. Also, sitting at home you feel helpless staring at the TV. I couldn't believe the information about America having the most cases in comparison to all the other countries (including hugely impacted countries from the virus such as China, Spain and Italy). I knew this could be a possibility but for it to be true was unreal. `

In terms of being in my home, everyday is still the same. This is probably the one time in my life that I'm actually thankful to only be in one house with one other person, my mother. Everything is peaceful and I'm never distracted. My brother decided to stay near his university in DC because he was already living off-campus in an apartment and my dad is working in San Francisco (which makes him stuck up there for a while). Growing up, I always wanted a bigger family with lots of more siblings. However, during a time like this, I couldn't be more thankful for the serenity. It makes quarantine bearable.

Since it is going on (almost) week 3 or 4 of practicing social distancing, I've noticed that I've taken on the hobby of cooking/baking. In the past, I've loved to do this but since I went to college I haven't had the same time. Nonetheless, this is the perfect time to pick up old hobbies so that's exactly what I did! The first thing I decided to make was chocolate-chip cookies. I used a recipe on Tik-Tok which actually ended up going south. They turned out too sweet and weren't enjoyable. But, I persisted on to make...churros! Long story short, these didn't taste well either. Unfortunately, I was having major nostalgia to Disneyland and I thought this would be a great treat to cure my craving. They ended up being too difficult to fry. Next, I finally had a success with my oatmeal raisin cookies. I found the recipe on the back of my quaker box in my pantry. The proportions were perfect and they were delicious. 2 days later I decided to try making oreo cheescake cookies because I had some leftover oreos that I didn't want to go to waste. These turned out tasty as well! Baking has been a great way to get my mind off of things and I can't wait to figure out what I will make next.
